Feasting with the Seasons – Wild Foods of Coast & Country
Cornwall’s landscape is generous — if you know how to read it.
Along the wooded slopes above Falmouth Bay and across the intertidal rocks below, a remarkable variety of edible plants, seaweeds and fungi grow quietly with the seasons.
This guided forage walk invites you to explore that abundance with care and curiosity.

Coast, Field & Woodland
We begin above the shoreline, where hedgerows, woodland edges and open fields offer berries, greens, seeds and blossoms throughout the year.
From there, and depending on tide and conditions, we descend to the rocky foreshore to discover edible seaweeds — nutrient-rich, flavourful and long valued in coastal communities.
You will learn to identify:
- Seasonal wild greens
- Edible flowers and seeds
- Berries and fruits
- Nuts and fungi (when in season)
- A range of carefully selected seaweeds
The focus is always on safe identification, responsible harvesting and an understanding of habitat.

Rooted in Place
These are paths I walk daily — often with my dog — watching the subtle changes in light, tide and growth.
Each forage experience responds to:
- Season and recent weather
- Tide times
- What is growing abundantly
- Your interests and pace
No two walks are identical.
Location
We meet at Swanpool in Falmouth for an introductory talk before setting out towards the most promising woodland, field margins and hedgerows.
When tides allow, we continue to the rocks near Gyllyngvase Beach to explore the edible shoreline.
Routes are adapted to ensure comfort, safety and enjoyment. Walks may be gently paced or more exploratory, and can be shortened or extended as preferred.
A Considered Approach
Foraging is not simply gathering; it is noticing.
Understanding growth cycles.
Recognising habitats.
Harvesting lightly and respectfully.
You will leave with practical knowledge — and perhaps a small seasonal collection to take home.
